Families Supporting Care:
Relief of Those in Need
We assist with the relief of those in need by reason of age, financial hardship or sickness – particularly those suffering from Alzheimer’s or dementia, as well as their families and carers.
About Us
In 2011 friends of Woodlands and Hill Brow set up the registered charity named Families Supporting Care.
The aim of the charity is to help support residents whose funds diminish during their stay alongside providing additional relief as required. Over the years the charity has helped over 60 residents stay in their chosen care home.
The charity is independently managed by the trustees, all of whom have experienced a loved one in care and can often be seen volunteering around the homes. Funds are generally raised through a number of social events held throughout the year.
The charity also receives individual donations from relatives and residents which help the charity fulfil its aim.
The Role of a Trustee
Trustees have overall control of a charity and are responsible for making sure it’s doing what it was set up to do within the charity’s governing document and associated legal duties.
The role is entirely voluntary with trustees giving the necessary time and effort to the management of the charity alongside taking an active role in helping the charity achieve its aim of supporting residents and their families.
Trustees act as the face of the charity and can be seen organising and participating in events to encourage fundraising or simply volunteering their time to help where needed.
If you would like to know more about becoming a trustee and feel you can help the charity achieve its aims through donating your expertise and commitment, we would love to hear from you.
